Communication and control devices for charging stations

RWE utilises INSYS technology
Mode 3 Charging Stations

Using electricity intelligently

With our in-depth experience of professional data transmission, we are committed to using electricity as a resource intelligently in electric mobility projects - from the 2-wheeled Segway to the conventional compact car.

In this context, the success of electric vehicles depends largely on having an innovative, widely available charging and communication structure.

Use INSYS technology to provide attractive charging points

Besides a charging infrastructure with car electricity contracts, charging in the home garage will also be important for future electric vehicle users, as will attractive charging options outside the restaurant or free car electricity in car parks. For retailers, this may be a welcome promotional measure to aid customer retention.

To enable environmentally-friendly electric vehicles to help cut CO2, INSYS icom is developing innovative solutions for all types of application:

  • As an RWE technology partner we develop and supply the innovative communication and control technology for RWE's charging stations.
  • We developed the SGM PilotBox for norm-based Mode 3 charging stations in the private and public sectors.

Our objective is to play our part in shaping a greener and quieter future.

Background: e-mobility, electric vehicles and smart grids

Parking electric cars can, as vehicle-to-grid (V2G), be a key part of smart grids providing they are connected to the latter.

During periods of weak demand, they store excess electricity from volatile renewable energies such as wind, sun, biogas and cogeneration units, and feed it back to the grid as required. In this way they help stabilise grids and increase the proportion of renewable energies in the energy mix.

Solutions for different charging points
  • Good value, standalone, mode 3 charging points
  • Private and public: easy to install
  • Powerline (PLC) based on HomePlug 1.0 Turbo between charging stations and electric vehicles.
  • GPRS communication between charging stations and the clearing center.
